ABOOT
About The Site:
The first 160ish cartoons on the site involved a single character that I call “The Loser Guy” getting the proverbial “business” from various aspects of life and types of people. I would pick a topic such as the Grocery store or the Airport and write and draw five (usually) progressively meaner cartoons showing how modern life can screw with someone. For the weekends I picked a random theme to do larger one or two shot drawings with a pop culture slant. About midway through the Loser Guy’s run I wanted to try some futuristic gags so I mixed in some cartoons on the weekends that I dubbed “Grand Vision”. I would think of some product or idea about life that we have in today’s society and imagine where it might go in the future (favoring absurd exaggeration in this regard) and draw it up.
The Loser Guy had his day in court and I decided to switch up theĀ content of the site to my own favorite style of cartooning: Random Gags. One of the reasons I did this was because I had developed a style for the Loser Guy that depended upon a certain kind of pen, the Faber-Castell brush tip marker (love that pen) and I couldn’t afford to buy so many of them anymore. Another reason was that I wanted to have the flexibility to just do a cartoon about whatever silly crap I wanted to draw that day rather than being hemmed in by a certain topic or character.
About Noel Graham:
I was born in Atlanta, grew up in the French Quarter in New Orleans and went to Tulane University where I graduated with a BFA. I started cartooning just before hurricane Katrina and was derailed by the storm for a while, finally getting back to the drawn page in 2007.
